Jonesing for chocolate PDF Print E-mail

While perusing chocablog today, I had an intense choc craving that was driving me nuts. The problem is that quaffing a good chocolate bar loads me down with a significant amount of my daily fat/calorie quota.

Fortunately, I recently discovered the new dark chocolate dipped mints from Altoids. Two of these will relieve the jonesing, at a cost of only 15 calories and half a gram of fat. These are rapidly replacing wintergreen as my favorite Altoid (the mint of myriad uses).

My favorite cure for chococraving remains the dark chocolate Dove Bar. Even though they were bought out by Mars, they remain the gold standard of consumer ice cream treats to me. I visited a friend on the South Side of Chicago in 1987, and paid a pilgimage to the original Dove store. Damn good chocolcate. On the west coast, I'm a big fan of See's dark varieties. Amazingly good (I believe they use Guittard); I go nuts for maple walnut and dark molasses chips. Arrgh - just thinking of it is killing me. (in a good way)

I should also mention one of my clients, Allies Edibles. They have a limited line (so they can focus) of very high-quality classic confections, and just got a nice write-up in Savor California.
